Thule VeloSpace XT Extra Bike Adapter

If you already have one of the Thule VeloSpace XT 938021 or 939021, 2-bike or 3-bike carriers, you can increase your capacity by one bike with this handy add-on.

The VeloSpace XT bike adapter clamps securely to the outermost wheel support platform on your existing VeloSpace XT carrier and provides the same wheel support platform and ratcheting wheel straps as the VeloSpace XT carrier with the addition of a small, double-headed clamping arm that supports your extra bike by clamping it securely to the outermost bike.

How many bikes does it carry: The VeloSpace XT bike adapter increases your capacity by one bike.

How does it carry them: Platform racks carry the bike by supporting it by the wheels. The ratcheting wheel straps prevent the bike from moving fore and aft and the provided intermediate clamping arm keeps the bike upright by supporting it from the adjacent bike that is held in place with a support arm back to the carrier itself.

How much weight can it carry: The VeloSpace XT bike adapter can carry a single bike of up to 15kg, which is a little less than the 30kg rating of the bikes on the existing VeloSpace XT but is still sufficient to carry most regular Bikes.

E-Bike rated: Being rated to 15kg most E-Bikes will be excluded.

How does it mount to the car: The VeloSpace XT bike adapter mounts to your existing VeloSpace XT 2-bike or 3-bike carrier and is designed to be installed and removed quickly and easily as required.

Does it tilt or swing to gain access to the vehicle: Your existing VeloSpace XT carrier does tilt away from the vehicle to allow access to the tailgate or hatch while fully loaded. This does not change with the addition of the VeloSpace XT bike adapter.

What size bikes (wheelbase) can it carry: The maximum wheelbase it will accommodate is 1300mm, the same as your existing VeloSpace XT rack.

What is the max tyre size: The maximum recommended tyre size is 29″ x 3″

How much does it weigh / dimensions: The VeloSpace XT bike adapter adds 2.8kg to your existing rack. It also adds a little height to your existing rack and a little depth but not as much as you might think due to the additional platform sitting above the lights.

Does it fold up for storage: The VeloSpace XT bike adapter can be removed from your existing carrier and therefore doesn’t impact the way it folds for storage.

Does it include a lock: Yes, the intermediate arm allows you to lock the additional bike, to the other bikes on the rack and the clamps that are used to attach the VeloSpace XT bike adapter to your VeloSpace XT bike carrier, are key locked.

Does it have an integrated licence plate holder / brake / reverse lights: The VeloSpace XT bike adapter sits above the lights and number plate of your existing VeloSpace XT carrier.
